Ulysses Auger II

Ulysses Auger is a Managing Partner and a member of the Executive Committee of Corstone Capital.

Prior to joining Corstone, Mr. Auger served as Founder, CEO, and Chairman of CAIS Internet Corp. (NASDAQ: CAIS), a tier one Internet Service Provider. Under his leadership, CAIS was transformed from a small private company servicing the Washington, DC area into a national pioneer in delivering high-speed Internet access to the hotel and multi-dwelling residential industries. During his tenure, Mr. Auger ushered CAIS through a $130MM public offering and arranged investments of $15MM from Qwest Communications, $20MM from 3Com, $40MM from Microsoft, and $200MM from Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts. CAIS ultimately came under the control of KKR and was renamed Ardent Communications.

Prior to CAIS, Mr. Auger served as President of Cleartel Communications, Inc. At Cleartel, he innovated the use of automated calling card services and fraud prevention, and pioneered the implementation of offshore operator and customer service centers. Mr. Auger was also a Founder and Director of Digital Satellite Broadcasting Corporation, an applicant for the Digital Audio Radio Service.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Auger served as an executive with Auger Enterprises, a Washington, DC based food service, hospitality, real estate, and property management firm. During the real estate crash in the late 1980s, he helped restructure corporate operations, and protected and redeployed several major assets. Mr. Auger continues to serve as Chief Business Development Officer.
Mr. Auger has contributed service and leadership to his industry and community. He was a three-term member of the Board of Directors of Comptel, the leading telecommunications industry trade association. He is a board member of the Washington International School, where he serves as the chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee. At WIS, Mr. Auger was responsible for the relocation and construction of a new primary school campus, and the zoning, design, and construction of a new Arts and Athletics center; both projects were completed on time and budget.
